Cognitive Science Ph.D Postdoctoral Fulbright Scholar
About me
I am a Postdoctoral Researcher and Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, working with Prof. Bilge Mutlu at the People and Robots Laboratory. My research broadly explores the cognitive mechanisms underlying Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), with a current focus on how trust is formed and calibrated within human-robot teams.
Prior to joining UW-Madison, I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Bilkent University's Cognitive Computational Neuroscience Lab with Assoc. Prof. Burcu A. Ürgen. During this period, supported by the TÜBİTAK 2218 National Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, I investigated multi-sensory contributions to the human understanding of robot actions. I hold a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science from Middle East Technical University, where my doctoral work examined the dynamics of mind perception in HRI through controlled yet naturalistic laboratory experiments.
Research Areas
- Trust Dynamics in HRI: Investigating how trust is formed, maintained, and calibrated in human-robot teams.
- Social Cognition & Mind Perception: Understanding the cognitive mechanisms behind attributing mental states to robots.
- Human Perception of Robot Actions: Exploring how humans perceive and interpret robot actions using multi-sensory cues.
- Mixed-Methods Research: Combining explicit feedback with implicit behavioral metrics.
- Naturalistic Experimental Settings: Designing novel naturalistic setups that allow for controlled experiments.
